Hi Dirk - thanks very much for the quick reply. I was thinking the adafruit v2 shield was a follow-on from the Make v1.1 shield but it looks like I was mistaken! I think I got confused as they're both available on the MakerShed shop, but with a closer look I can see that the v2 shield is actually the adafruit one.
Re-reading the description of the adafruit v2 shield I think you're right - it doesn't sound like it has exactly the same kind of capabilities as the Make v1.1 shield, so it might not work.
